About
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to a hidden gem tucked away at 1514 Hillhurst Ave in Los Angeles: the Good Luck Bar. This vibrant spot has quickly become a favorite among locals and newcomers alike, earning rave reviews for its captivating atmosphere and expertly crafted cocktails.
Walk through the doors, and you'll be welcomed by a beautiful blend of decor that features original wood-carved fixtures from a now-closed Chinatown restaurant. The ambiance exudes warmth and charm, making it a perfect place to unwind after a long day or to kickstart your weekend. As Johnny Swaggin Zardoz aptly noted, you will fall in love with this cozy enclave the moment you step inside.
The cocktail menu is nothing short of exceptional. With thoughtful crafting, drinks like the Potent Potion and the Beijing Swing (a delightful gin concoction) have earned high praise from patrons. Marianna Arkadia highlights the magic brought to life by bartender Kat, who alone makes a visit well worth it. The quality of each drink stands out, especially considering how reasonably priced they are, as Katherine Kotcheff points out.
If you find yourself craving a tropical escape but Tiki-Ti is too crowded, look no further. As Symphony Marie mentions, Good Luck Bar serves one of the best dark and stormies in Los Angeles, showcasing a knack for creative, refreshing cocktails. Plus, the atmosphere is wonderfully chill during the week, transforming into a lively gathering spot on the weekends.
What truly makes Good Luck Bar a standout is its inclusive, welcoming vibe. Regulars like Santiago Pazos feel at home here, making it a place for everyone to relax and connect. So, whether you’re stopping by after a movie at the nearby Vista Theater or simply seeking a unique cocktail experience, Good Luck Bar is a destination that promises satisfaction and warmth.
Cheers to the Good Luck Bar — where every drink brings a little magic into your evening!
“ Great little bar, beautiful decor. They make one of the best dark and stormies in LA! Good place to visit if you're craving tropical drinks but Tiki-Ti is just a little tooo crowded. ”
“ I love this place for the drinks. Potent Potion is amazing. This is our 4th time here and we've had many different bartenders but the best one yet is Kat! She's is super sweet and makes terrific drinks. Kat makes this place 5 stars! No joke. ”
“ Absolutely wonderful bar with original wood carved wall/ceiling fixtures from a chinatown restaurant that went under. Good Luck Bar has atmosphere in spades. Local street parking is difficult, but it's worth the walk. You will be in love with this place the second you walk in the door. It's beautiful inside. ”
“ Very chill but can get very crowded on the weekends. That being said, the cocktails are reasonably priced for how thought out and tasty they are. I ordered the Beijing Swing (gin drink) and it was absolutely delicious and like 10. I appreciated that the women bar tenders were taking their time and making the cocktails with good quality even though it was popping and they were super busy. Will return for sure ”
“ I absolutely love this place. As I gay man I feel really welcomed ( as it should) despite it is not a gay bar. Drinks are reasonably priced and the crew is quite wondeful. Perfect bar to stop after the movies ( Vista theater right around the corner) ”
“ Pretty decent tiki drinks at a pretty decent tiki drink price, and they're always just the right amount of busy... Let's you know the place is good without being so crowded as to make you wanna leave after only one round. 10 outta 10, we be goin' again (And we definitely have!) ”
“ Dark and Red, this hole in the wall has a very sexy element to it. Excellent drinks, very delicious (esp the iced-blended alcoholic beverages which have an exotic element to them). Very Romantic. I like sitting at or near the bar, but there is a spacious lounge in the back that everyone likes. ”
“ What a beautiful space. The first thing to catch my eye was that the Good Luck Bar still has an authentic neon light hanging outside their door, which would otherwise be relatively easy to miss, and I thought it was a nice touch in a city where so many spaces are taking less expensive shortcuts. Once I got inside I was blown away by the warmth and ambiance of the space! It's just so vibrant, with plenty of seating all around. I grabbed a seat at the bar and saw a pretty extensive specialty drink menu, so once I saw that combined with the decor I expected my drinks to be on the more expensive side. Pleasantly surprised again! I ordered my usual gin and tonics and if I remember correctly they were 7 each, which is definitely on the low end for LA. At most they were 8 and they tasted wonderful! I visited on a Wednesday night and it honestly never got too crazy (although it did get lively enough), and I enjoyed myself immensely. Would recommend this bar to both locals and anyone visiting LA! ”
